Thursday Night Worship

Tonight was the last night of camp. It was an awesome message about generosity and giving. His main points were that we need to realize that we are blessed, use what God has blessed us with for His glory, and get rid of anything that will distract us from Him.
At the end of the night Clayton gave an invitation for anyone that felt called into ministry. We had about 12 of our students commit themselves to some type of vocational ministry.
During church group time, it was awesome to hear the students to explain what they felt like their individual callings were.
After our church group share time, Jim washed the graduating senior's feet. It's a tradition he's done on the last night of camp for many years, and is very emotional for the students as it represents their final step in our ministry.
It was a great week of camp for us. Thanks for your prayers. JM

Last Day

Today was my off-campus activity day, so I got to go to Day At The River. It's awesome. You float down the Broad River on an innertube. It's a nice relaxing way to end up the week. We had lots of students in our group out there, so that was nice, too. We also had two teams in the basketball tournament. One was the girls volleyball team from the other day, which, unfortunately, bowed out in the opening round losing 12 - 1. Our other team lost in the semifinals. Sorry, no pictures, but I was busy floating my lazy self down a river. JM

Wednesday Night Worship

Tonight Matt Orth spoke about how we have a tendency to be judgmental and self-righteous. His message was titled "Beware The Yeast" and was based in Matthew 16:5-12. His main points were:
The yeast is the danger of being judgmental and self-righteous.
We unintentionally isolate unbelievers by our behavior.
We all need God's grace and mercy - compassion for their condition and recognition of our condition. It was a powerful message delivered in a very relative and understandable way. JM

Volleyball Tournament

Today was the volleball tournament as well. While we didn't win, both of our teams had fun, and one did it all in high fashion. Check out the pictures. JM

Dodgeball Tournament

Wednesday is the 3V3 dodgeball tournament, and our team of Luke, Chip, and Matt brought home gold. Great action. Enjoy the pictures. JM

Night Time Fun

Once we finish share time we normally have about an hour or so in our rooms before lights out. I'm not sure what the girls do (giggle, I guess), but the guys usually do some form of wrestling. We have three basic rules to keep things under control:
1. Don't hit.
2. Don't kick.
3. Don't get mad.
It's a good time and great relationship building. I mean, how can you not like a guy you just spent 90 seconds with basically hugging? JM

Tuesday Night Worship

Tuesday night Clayton King talked about purity. The main part of his message was that purity is a process, and that to think that we can live a pure life without doing other spiritual disciplines is foolish. His main reference was II Corinthians 6:11 - 7:1. Here's his main points:
1. Nothing is invisible - God sees everything.
2. God is better than your sin - It's more enjoyable to serve God than to sin.
3. Intimacy with God is conditional - you have to pay a price for God's presence.
4. Holiness is hard work.
JM

Tuesday Soccer Tournament

We had four teams in the soccer tournament on Tuesday. Although the team I played on got robbed and we should have won the championship and eternal fame and glory, another team from our church ended up winning. They got a trophy, eternal fame and glory, and the privilege of playing the camp staff.
Normally the staff just comes out and whoops up on the championship team, but our students made us proud and beat them 2-1. The winning team was Shea, Greg, Ben, Brad, Caleb, Cameron, Gabby, and Dan. Here's some photos of the game versus the staff and some random photos from the petting zoo. JM

Monday Night Worship

Worship was awesome tonight. Carl Cartee is back this year leading the music. His band does a really good job of sounding great, but never making the focus the music, but keeping it on God.
Clayton King gave the message tonight. He talked about "What's the big deal about Jesus?" His four main points were he is the only one who cares, he is the only one who can cleanse, he is the only one who was crucified, and he is the only one who is coming back. The main passage he used was Hebrews 9:23-28. It was a great evangelistic message that saw probably around 40 students place their faith in Christ, including several from our group. Great night. Here's some more pictures for you. JM

Arrival

We're here. We left church around 7:40 am and after a little bit of Atlanta traffic, a bathroom break, and a lunch stop at Haywood mall in Greenville, SC, we arrived at Crossroads camp in Boiling Springs, NC around 1:45 pm. After checking into our rooms, we went down to a rules meeting, had dinner, and then we went to worship.
Great to be here for our second year. There are about 750 students here total, with 117 of those being from Peachtree City. We're excited about the week and will try to update every day so you can keep up with what's happening. Here's some pictures for you - The first is Clayton King, the leader of Crossroads ministries, the rest are just some pictures of our rooms, which are actually quite nice this year. So rest assured that your students are sleeping in the lap of luxury. JM

Camp Update

So I had this great idea for mission trip that we could create a blog and post to it every day with updates and pictures and junk. But it didn't work out because we didn't have internet. So hopefully it will work this time because we're supposed to have internet again. We'll see. JM
